Artist Statement
Color, light and the forms of our semi-tropical landscape provide me with endless inspiration. I paint in and around Marco Island, and especially enjoy painting the beauty of the nearby Everglades.

Basically, I'm a studio painter, but inspiration for paintings comes from working on location to capture the essence of the scene. Paintings are then taken back to
the studio for further interpretation. Rich images and bold shapes are used to
create paintings that capture the character of this remarkable landscape.
Working with acrylics, I make changes as the painting develops, and use color glazing to bring depth and light to the images.

I hope to capture the magic moments when everything comes together as a gift
from nature. Those special moments may never come again. That special light is
the essence of what I hope will move the viewer.

The Everglades are a wonderful resource and we are lucky to have this fabulous landscape available. I hope that enjoyment of my paintings will bring an increased awareness of the value of this lovely and fragile world.
